Software and Scripts

The following are utilities/programs, scripts, and other files created by me. They are available at no cost to you, though if you use them and they save you time and money, I would appreciate a small donation through paypal. Contact me if you would like to make such a donation.

None of the utilities/programs, scripts, and other files below have been created with the intention of causing harm to your computer(s), file(s), or network system(s). HOWEVER, while I try to test everything I do, one misplaced letter/word CAN cause deletion - or worse. So anything below should be TESTED first on a NON-PRODUCTION system to ensure the results are as desired and no damage occurs. And even if things test ok, I make no warranty that the software won't, at some later date, decide to do something different. Or, to put it another way - USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Scripts

BACKUP.CMD - Version 1.40
This is my backup script. It uses the built-in NTBackup utility included with Windows 2000, 2003, and XP. It is designed to backup data to an external drive and use a tool called GBMailer to e-mail a report concerning the backup to an e-mail address specified. This script was last updated on September 20, 2009.

Software

MDATE.EXE - Version 1.22
MDATE is a 16-bit DOS utility (compatible with most Windows operating systems, excluding 64-bit operating systems) designed to be used in batch files to create folders based on the current date. Once a tremendously useful utility for me, my learning of how to use the %date% and %time% variables in batch programming has obviated the need for this. Still, you may find it useful.

Worksheets & Documents

BACKUPWORKSHEET.XLS - Version 1.0
An Excel sheet that can be used to help you evaluate the total costs and requirements between three different backup solutions.
